Mr. Hamann has been with the Licking Heights Schools since August, 1995. In those 20 years, he has served 6th, 7th and 8th grades, with the majority of his tenure spent instructing 8th grade Math. He has been here for every step of this district’s growth as it has gone from an 8th grade class size of 87, and a staff size of 64, to 285 and 235 respectively. Along the way, Mr. Hamann has taken part in organizing the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip, assistant coach LH baseball, Science Olympiad, and the training and implementation of student intervention and assistance models.
Departing from his hometown of Granville, Mr. Hamann opted for the thrills, excitement and adventure that went along with being employed by the United States Army, in the Military Police Corp. After successfully completing his obligation, he found himself working for an independent well driller in Connecticut and Maine. The New England winters finally took their toll, and he decided to look for a new vocation that involve taking a shower before work, not after. It was 1990 when Mr. Hamann took his two children and wife back to Newark, Ohio, and while working in residential framing, spent the next 4 years acquiring his Bachelor of Science degree and, ultimately, his teaching license in Elementary Education, from The Ohio State University. He later received his Master’s degree, in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University.
Mr. Hamann is currently serving at Licking Heights Central, as the Dean of Students, and is looking forward to having a positive and lasting impact on the students, staff and community.
