Dean of Students

Mr. Rick Hamann has been a member of the Licking Heights Local Schools community since 1995. Over two decades, he has taught sixth, seventh and eighth grade students, with the majority of his tenure instructing eighth grade mathematics. He has watched the district grow from an eighth grade class size of 87, and a staff size of 64! Along the way, Mr. Hamann has organized the eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. trip, served as an assistant coach of Licking Heights baseball, advised the Science Olympiad, and led the training and implementation of student intervention and assistance models.

Departing from his hometown of Granville, Mr. Hamann opted for the thrills, excitement and adventure that went along with being employed by the United States Army in the Military Police Corps. After successfully completing his obligation, he found himself working for an independent well driller in Connecticut and Maine. The New England winters finally took their toll, and he decided to look for a new vocation that involved taking a shower before work, not after. It was 1990 when Mr. Hamann took his two children and wife back to Newark, Ohio, and while working in residential framing, spent the next four years acquiring his Bachelor of Science degree and his elementary education teaching license from The Ohio State University. He later received his graduate degree in curriculum and instruction from Ashland University.

Mr. Hamann is currently serving at Central Middle School as the Dean of Students, and is looking forward to having a positive and lasting impact on the students, staff and community.
