WELCOME TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION WITH MR.L!!!!

PE Class Objectives:

Throughout the semester we will explore the 5 components of physical fitness; cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility and body composition. We will be focusing on cardiovascular endurance (ability of the heart, lungs and blood vessels to deliver oxygen through physical activity), muscular endurance (ability for muscles to sustain repeated movements over a period of time) and flexibility ( dynamic and static stretching). We will also learn about the positive effects of physical activity not only your physical health but social, mental and emotional as well. This will be done through various physical activities, exercises, team and individual sports and games. We will work primarily in two week long units for each specific topic with the first week being more of an introduction and assessment of skills needed to perform activity and the second week more game and situational playing opportunities. We will have 1 day each week set aside (Thursdays) as a Cardiovascular Endurance day that will be a bit more physically demanding and more assessment based (i.e 1 mile timed run, push up testing, sit up testing, PACER etc.).

Expectations:

Students are expected to change for each class, bring a positive attitude and be ready to give a full effort. We do not reward any individual any extra points based off their playing abilities but rather their effort, cooperation and attitude throughout each activity. We have 1 main rule inside the gym and that is the "Golden Rule" - Treat others just as you wish to be treated in everything you do! As long as your child comes to class prepared, on time, ready to particiapte and a big SMILE they are guaranteed for success.
