During the caucus from Dec. 3-5, 16 students represented the nations of Nepal, Cuba and Egypt to debate, network and solve major world issues. From opening trade to improve the economy of Cuba, diverting and storing monsoon water in Nepal and cleaning up the Nile River delta in Egypt, these students scored well on their resolutions.
Senior officer Lily Calendar served as a council vice president throughout this student-led event - no adults run any sessions. All debates are student-run.
Junior Avery Huizinga was elected to be a council president for next year’s meeting and was awarded an outstanding delegate award from all advisers and peers at the conference. Seniors Rhianna Weall and Abigail Sedziol were awarded medals for outstanding club leadership.
“It was an outstanding Model UN Summit with high quality ideas,” said Aimee Wilson, intervention specialist and Model UN advisor. “Great job to all of our students!”
