AP courses at LHHS
By Olivia Roth, communications intern
Licking Heights High School offers students an array of AP courses to enable them to partake in more rigorous coursework and receive credit for college classes. The actual course is weighted on a 5.0 GPA scale and through taking the AP exam, students have the ability to send those scores to colleges. In my own case, I have taken the AP Calculus AB, AP Language, and AP Physics exams and have sent those scores out. The classes are more difficult, but more in the sense that they require more work and more thought in regards to the responses. As the years progress, more AP courses are being added such as the AP Calculus BC course which is in its first year.

From my own experience, I have thoroughly enjoyed challenging my abilities in these classes and have found the teachers to be helpful in preparation for college. Since the classes are mimicked after a college course, the students are able to get a glimpse into what a college workload would be similar to. Although not exactly the same, AP courses further the students abilities in writing, reading, mathematics, and more. So, as a student of LHHS and a student in AP classes, I encourage others to take them even if they are wary of their own abilities. In the end, the AP courses can be beneficial in the long run and can be the defining factor in challenging students to learn as much as they can.
