Looking forward to 2018
A message from Dr. Philip Wagner

As 2017 and the first semester draw to a close, it is time for us to reflect on the changes that have shaped this last year. Our student enrollment is growing, our educational programs are excelling, and we are planning to break ground in 2018 for our new high school building – an enormous change made possible by the unwavering support of our parents, staff, community, and members of the Board of Education.

Our Board of Education is changing this year as current president Richard Wand decided not to re-run for the Board and is leaving in December at the end of his second term. Richard, a parent of two Licking Heights students and spouse of a third grade teacher, has contributed so much to the district since his election to the Board of Education in 2010. His leadership style and interest in our facilities and operational efficiency will be missed, but we wish Richard well in his future endeavors.

In his place, we welcome Mark Rader (a Licking Heights graduate) as our newest member, and congratulate current members Tracy Russ and Paul Johnson on their re-election. I am looking forward to continuing our positive forward progress as a district with this Board of Education. Licking Heights Local Schools is stronger because of their dedication and involvement.

Serving on the Board of Education is just one official way to make a difference at Licking Heights Local Schools. We are always looking for volunteers to support our students in the classroom, through our PTOs, at the building offices, or with one of our booster organizations. We believe we are stronger together, and our community is stronger when we rally behind our schools. It’s an exciting time to be a hornet; I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!
