ATTENTION, PARENTS OF NORTH, SOUTH, AND WEST STUDENTS,
New laws in Ohio require elementary teachers to take part in 18 hours of training focused on structured literacy.
This training is part of new laws that address the screening and serving of students who are struggling with the reading process.
In order to help our elementary teachers meet this new 18-hour requirement, Licking Heights Schools will use three days of school when students are not in session to provide the training.
The first day is Friday, March 17. This day is already on the school calendar as a professional development day when students are not in session.
Two additional days have been added when students at North, South, and West Elementary Schools will NOT be in session. They are:
- Wednesday, April 19
- Wednesday, April 26
Please mark your calendars for no school for students on April 19 and April 26, 2023 only for students in North, South, and West buildings. All other buildings will be in session. Additional reminders will be sent out as those dates approach.
